Tomorrow, The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will be at the heart of the NBA, and the Angel City team confirms its preparedness.
The regular season may be a month away, but Rui Hachimura from the Los Angeles Lakers remarked that Sunday morning’s game against the Golden State Warriors had the atmosphere of a significant rivalry. “This is going to be a significant game, almost like a playoff,” the Japanese player commented after practice. “It feels like we’ve faced them numerous times – in preseason, playoffs, and regular season games. So, we’re quite familiar with each other.”
Certainly, LA and Golden State have competed against each other on 10 occasions in the last 10 months, commencing with last spring’s postseason. Each team emerged victorious in 5 of those matchups.
The Lakers (36-31) hold the 9th position in the Western Conference, with a one-game advantage over the Warriors (34-31). If the playoffs were to commence today, LA would host the Warriors in a Play-in game, with the victor advancing to face the defeated team from the other Play-in match for a chance to secure a spot in the Playoffs.
Both teams faced losses prior to this matchup. The Lakers were defeated 107-120 in Sacramento, while the Warriors, missing Stephen Curry due to an ankle injury and Draymond Green, suffered a 99-109 loss against the Dallas Mavericks.
Heading into this crucial match for final standings, Coach Darvin Ham anticipates having Curry and Green back in the starting lineup for Golden State. In preparation for the game, the Lakers conducted a video analysis of their loss to the Kings to glean insights and lessons.
Since their last encounter with the Warriors, a thrilling 145-144 double-overtime victory on January 27th, the Lakers have emerged victorious in 13 out of 21 games.
