Novak Djokovic and Courtside Stars impresses with effortless 3-pointer at Lakers’ home arena

Novak Djokovic took a break from tennis and showcased his basketball skills during a visit to the Crypto.com Arena. Following his early exit from the Indian Wells Open, the world’s number one tennis player attended the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors.

Before enjoying the highly anticipated matchup between two popular NBA teams, the 36-year-old Serbian had the opportunity to display his basketball prowess. Djokovic shared a video on Instagram, demonstrating his best Stephen Curry impression by effortlessly sinking a 3-point shot. In a playful nod to NBA legend LeBron James, Djokovic captioned the shot with the message, “Not too bad ha? @kingjames.” When asked for his thoughts on the impressive display, LeBron James responded with a lighthearted comment, saying, “Hahahaha!!!! Not bad at all, friend!! True to form.”

Prior to capturing memorable photographs, Djokovic engaged in a conversation with James, providing him with a chance to meet the basketball superstar. Expressing his admiration, Djokovic wrote on Instagram, “Amazing to witness greatness on and off the court.” The 24-time Grand Slam tennis champion shared these pictures of their encounter. Djokovic also had the opportunity to interact with Stephen Curry on the same night. Curry scored 31 points as the Warriors defeated the Celtics 128-121. Following their on-court exchange, the current French and US Open champion gifted the former league MVP a signed racket.

In return, Curry presented Djokovic with the shirt he wore during the game, which Djokovic graciously signed. The ATP Tour shared these photos with the caption, “Just two stars hanging out.” This night out in Los Angeles occurred merely two weeks after Djokovic spent time with fellow Serbian and reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

Although Djokovic was initially scheduled to compete in the Miami Open, the first Masters 1000 event of the year, his unexpected loss to 123rd-ranked Italian Luka Nardi in the third round of the Indian Wells Open prompted a change in plans. Djokovic announced his withdrawal from the Miami tournament to focus on the upcoming clay court season in Europe.

“At this stage of my career, I am trying to balance my personal and professional life,” Djokovic expressed in a statement. “I regret that I won’t be able to experience the incredible energy and support of some of the best and most passionate fans in the world.”
