“In that moment, it’s not primarily about the financial aspect,” expressed the Los Angeles Lakers superstar during an interview with The Athletic.
LeBron James is determined to join forces with his son, Bronny James, in professional basketball, regardless of the obstacles. During an interview with The Athletic released on Saturday, the 37-year-old Los Angeles Lakers icon emphasized his intention to play alongside his 17-year-old son before ultimately concluding his career in the NBA.
“My last year will be played with my son,” LeBron told the outlet. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
LeBron, who is currently playing in his 19th NBA season, has four titles under his belt: two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and one with the Lakers. The professional athlete additionally mentioned that there remains a possibility of returning to the Cavaliers, where he secured his third NBA championship in 2016.
“I’m not confirming a comeback to play; that’s uncertain,” he conveyed to The Athletic in response. “I’m unsure about what lies ahead. I don’t even know when I’ll have the liberty to make such decisions.”
LeBron James spent seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers before announcing his decision to join the Miami Heat in 2010, famously stating he would “take my talents to South Beach.” There, he teamed up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, leading the Heat to consecutive NBA championships in 2012 and 2013. He later returned to the Cavaliers in 2014. In 2018, following his pivotal role in securing Cleveland’s first-ever NBA championship, LeBron opted out of his contract. He then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers that same summer and, a year later, clinched his fourth title by defeating the Heat.
