The Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks recently squared off. It was up to the other Hawks players to step up and lead the club against the second-highest seeding team with the team’s highest average scorer, Trae Young, sidelined due to an injury. One of them did it expertly, contributing more points to the team’s total score than he had in his two prior games put together. Giannis Antetokounmpo, his competitor and great player, even showed him admiration for his incredible performance.
Following the match, a video was posted on the NBA’s official X account. The video featured Giannis trading jerseys with Hawks MVP Bogdan Bogdanovic. The contestants displayed excellent sportsmanship by giving each other a quick hug and striking up a conversation. Giannis rarely finishes a game with less than the highest point total, but he is undoubtedly aware of when to give credit where credit is due.
During the Hawks game, Giannis recorded 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 assists, exceeding his average. To everyone’s astonishment, though, Bogdan Bogdanovic emerged as the game’s top scorer with 38 points and 4 assists. The Hawks player set a career high with 10 rebounds, which he eventually claimed.
Bogdanovic scored 17 of his points simultaneously as the Bucks built a sizable lead heading into the fourth quarter. He even sank two 3-pointers in the last minute of play. But despite his best efforts, his side was unable to win, as the Bucks prevailed 122-113 to win the game.
Unquestionably, the 31-year-old’s athleticism in the last quarter was nothing short of astounding, even in spite of the loss. Additionally, it demonstrated the player’s leadership qualities in the event that team leader Trae Young is not available.
Bogdan Bogdanovic makes up for Trae Young’s absence
After suffering a ruptured ligament in his left hand finger on February 23, Trae Young has not been seen on the basketball court. The player was declared out of the running until his evaluation, which was planned to take place within the next month following his operation. The Hawks have played in more than eighteen games since he was absent. Following Trae Young’s injury, Bogdan Bogdanovic’s average stayed largely same.
The Serbian athlete has averaged 17.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over the past 18 games. In five of the games, he scored more than twenty points, but only twice did he finish below ten points. His 3-point percentage continued to swing greatly between games, but it finally settled at an average of 38.8%. His average field goal percentage stayed at an astounding 90.2%.
