Ja Morant Sends Message to Former Teammate
The Memphis Grizzlies welcomed back Washington Wizards guard Tyus Jones with a tribute video on Tuesday night. Jones played for the Grizzlies from 2019-2023, and was a big piece to Memphis making the postseason three times in that span.
A solid backup point guard to Ja Morant, Jones played his role well for the Grizzlies, and was loved by the fanbase. Following this reunion on Tuesday, Jones received a message from Morant on Instagram:

The Grizzlies had great culture and chemistry during Jones’ time there, and he was a big part of that. Memphis certainly did not want to lose him in the offseason, but had to include him in the deal that brought in Marcus Smart.
Morant is of course one of the best point guards in basketball, and Jones was as good of a backup as there was in the league. Many felt the Grizzlies had two starting point guards, with Jones often playing to that level during his time in Memphis. Putting together a solid campaign for Washington in his first season as a full-tine starter, Jones is averaging 12.0 PPG and 7.3 APG on 49.0% from the field and 41.2% from deep.
It was fun seeing the Grizzlies reunite with their beloved former teammate, and it was a much deserved tribute that Jones received in his first game back in Memphis.
