Ja Morant Scheduled for Surgery; R.J. Barrett Declines Grizzlies’ Private Workout

The New York Knicks may face uncertainty with Ja Morant’s impending knee surgery, affecting the top of the NBA draft board. As for R.J. Barrett, the anticipated third pick, it appears he’s actively avoiding Memphis. He’s publicly expressed a preference for either going fourth to the Lakers or third to the Knicks. Additionally, Barrett has declined the Grizzlies’ invitation for a private workout.

While my opinion of Barrett isn’t particularly strong, I do believe he shows more potential than Morant. The prospect of Memphis potentially changing their draft plans on the night itself would certainly unsettle me if I were a staunch supporter of Barrett. It wouldn’t be the first time a projected pick aimed for New York only to be chosen one spot earlier.
