Klay Thompson ‘throws bricks’, Golden State Warriors soon bid farewell to the 2024 NBA Playoffs

In a surprising turn of events during this year’s NBA play-in round, the Golden State Warriors faced a significant setback, succumbing to a 94-118 defeat against the Sacramento Kings.

Right from the onset of the game, the Kings’ emerging talent, Keegan Murray, signaled the Warriors about the challenging matchup ahead. Murray contributed 11 of the first 15 points for the purple and white-clad team. Despite the efforts of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, the Warriors couldn’t avert defeat in the opening round.

In the second half, Coach Steve Kerr’s team showed improvement, especially when bench players like Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga stepped up at crucial moments. Kuminga, in particular, made significant contributions, continuously scoring to help the Warriors narrow the gap to just four points before halftime.

Although there were signs of improvement for the Golden State Warriors, the rest of the game turned into a nightmare for them. Despite Stephen Curry’s early five points in the third quarter, the Kings responded aggressively with a barrage of three-pointers from players like Murray, Keon Ellis, and former Warriors player Harrison Barnes.

As the third quarter progressed, Murray and De’Aaron Fox continued to shine, widening the gap between the two teams to 17 points. Despite the efforts of Curry, Moody, and Kuminga, they couldn’t close the deficit, especially on a day when Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson struggled significantly.

Ultimately, Coach Steve Kerr’s team faltered in the fourth quarter, losing 18-27 and officially missing out on further playoff contention, signaling an early end to their season.

Stephen Curry led the Golden State Warriors in scoring with 22 points, but it was a challenging game for the “Chef” as he faced constant defensive pressure and committed six turnovers. Klay Thompson, the other half of the “Splash Brothers,” struggled to find his rhythm, failing to score any points despite attempting 10 shots.

On the opposing side, Keegan Murray had an outstanding performance, tallying 32 points, including hitting 8 out of 13 three-point attempts. De’Aaron Fox contributed 24 points, while Harrison Barnes faced his former team and scored 17 points.

Although the Sacramento Kings secured a victory, it doesn’t propel them into the NBA playoffs this year. They still have a crucial match against the New Orleans Pelicans, who lost the 7th seed play-in game to the Los Angeles Lakers. As for the Golden State Warriors, their season has officially concluded, marking a potential end to the dynasty featuring the trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green.
