A variety of stories circulated about Damian Lillard before he made his Milwaukee Bucks playoff debut.
Without Giannis Antetokounmpo in Game 1 versus the Pacers, the spotlight was on “Damҽ Time.”
After years of serving as the cornerstone of the Portland Trail Blazers club, some questioned his ability to lead a team in the postseason. A few brought up his subpar regular-season performances against their first-round opponents, the Indiana Pacers, over and time again.
“Damҽ Time” took center stage in Game 1 against the Pacers in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence.
After getting used to playing the role of Robin to Antetokounmpo’s Batman, many were curious to see if he could call up past postseason glory as the alpha. It’s possible that his detractors were merely hoping to berate and humiliate him.
But Damian Lillard refused to let anything but his performance speak for itself. With a retro Lillard post, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Twitter team—formerly known as X—had to do the social media trolling for the star point guard. In Rip City, “Damҽ Time” was a frequent highlight throughout his tenure with the Blazers. He liked to “clock in” against rivals, even during the postseason. The Bucks Twitter had to remind people since it’s possible that many had forgotten or choose to disregard what he can do in the postseason.
With six 3-pointers made out of nine attempts, Lillard finished his explosive first half with 35 points on 11 of 19 shots. It was the highest points a Bucks player had scored in a half during the playoffs. In the NBA In-Season Tournament, Tyrese Haliburton stole his “Damҽ Time” celebration, and he also triumphed in their mano-a-mano match.
