The NBA pros have had a close relationship on-and-off the court since they were kids
NBA siblings Stephen Curry and Seth Curry share a deep bond as each other’s greatest supporters and motivators.
Stephen, being slightly over two years older, paved the way into the NBA first, gaining widespread admiration as the Golden State Warriors’ point guard. Seth acknowledges the advantages and disadvantages of being recognized as the younger brother of the two-time MVP. While it undoubtedly opened doors for him, as he mentioned in a conversation with Draymond Green on his podcast, Seth has also gleaned invaluable insights from his brother’s experiences, which he considers a significant benefit.
“Learning from Steph, being able to ask him questions, following his journey,” Seth shared with Green. “I got a guy who has been through a lot of the grinds, and I can pick his brain… being able to ask him questions, following his journey,” he added. “And more importantly, just watch what he does and add it to myself.”
However, Seth recognizes that relying solely on familial connections will only take him so far. “You have to produce every day, you have to bring value, or they’re going to get you out of there,” he emphasized.
These days, Seth has certainly carved out his own path based on his merits. His exceptional three-point shooting percentage ranks among the top in NBA history, and his skills played a pivotal role in the Brooklyn Nets’ journey to the 2023 NBA playoffs.
While there may be occasional sibling rivalry, with the brothers facing off against each other in NBA matchups, Stephen acknowledges the complexity of rooting for his brother’s failure when his own success may depend on it.
“I can’t turn off that human nature, in that moment, to root for him, even if I know it will hurt me,” he expressed to Good Morning America before their teams clashed in the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
From their shared athletic upbringing to their individual careers and personal lives, the story of Stephen and Seth Curry is a testament to the enduring bond between siblings who share a passion for basketball.
