LeBron James’ wife, Savannah, reveals in a rare interview why she has chosen to avoid the limelight

Savannah James, wife of LeBron James, has opted to keep a low profile over the course of her husband’s nearly 20-year career in the NBA. In a new interview, she reveals why.

You won’t spot Savannah James on “Basketball Wives” anytime soon.

Throughout LeBron James’ nearly two-decade NBA career, his wife has preferred to remain out of the public eye. In a rare interview, the 36-year-old mother of three—LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., 18, Bryce James, 15, and Zhuri James, 8—explained her choice to stay low-key.

“I really wanted to focus on being a mom and supporting my husband,” Savannah, who met LeBron when they were teenagers, told The Cut in a May 11 cover interview. “I wasn’t very comfortable with putting myself out there.”

Savannah seldom accompanies her husband to public events, but she made a rare appearance with their children in February when the Los Angeles Lakers forward was celebrated for surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. A month later, she was also photographed looking glamorous at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party.

While Savannah generally stays out of the spotlight, she remains active on social media. She occasionally shares photos and videos of herself and her family on Instagram, where she has 2.2 million followers. Additionally, she runs a YouTube channel with her daughter Zhuri, which has 205,000 subscribers.

“Sometimes I think, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is a bit overwhelming,'” Savannah shared with The Cut, referring to the online attention she gets. “But I understand it and I’m okay with it. I’ve come to realize that this might just be my moment to be visible.”

Despite the attention, Savannah admits she is “not a comment reader” on social media.

“I believe reading comments can lead you down a rabbit hole you don’t want to be in,” she explained. “I don’t think there are any misconceptions about me that I feel the need to address.”

There’s also one social media platform she refuses to join: TikTok.

“I’ve told myself, I’m not getting into the Tik-etyToks,” Savannah said. “Tik-etyToks is for the kids.
