Bronny James’ famous father, LeBron James, was present on Wednesday to watch him play at the NBA draft combine. Dressed in a black hoodie, LeBron sat in the second row for Bronny’s second and final scrimmage of the event.
LeBron, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, along with his wife and daughter, frequently attended Bronny’s games at Southern California last season. LeBron has expressed a desire to play on the same team as his son.
The four-time MVP and NBA champion, who recently completed his 21st season, could become a free agent if he opts out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he mentioned after a season-ending loss to Denver that he hasn’t “given much thought lately” to playing alongside Bronny.
Bronny is currently deciding whether to turn professional after one season of college basketball. He declared for the draft and entered the transfer portal on April 5.
As one of the nation’s top prospects, Bronny chose to stay close to home and committed to USC last May after attending Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth. However, last summer, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart defect during a basketball workout at USC in late July, which required surgery.
This incident caused him to miss the first month of the season. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games for the Trojans.
