Not only was the event joyous, but it was also historic because it was the first time in almost five years that NBA Championships were hosted in the White House. When President Barack Obama was in office, the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were NBA champions, paid a visit to the White House on November 10, 2016.
Star player Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke about the value of hard effort during the event on Monday.
“With hard work, with sacrifices… if you dedicate yourself, wake up every day and try and get better in anything you do, anything you love and believe in your dreams, you can accomplish great things in life,” Antetokounmpo stated.
President BiԀen received a customized green Bucks jersey with his last nаme printed on the back somewhere else during the special event.
BiԀen praised the squad on their significant victory and joyfully took the personalized shirt.
“To all the players, that’s what you represent for so many people — pride and decency,” remarked Vice President BiԀen. “You represented yourself and your families, your organizations and a great American city by staying true to who you are.”
On July 20, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns 105-98 in Game 6 to win the 2021 NBA Championships. The team’s first win in fifty years and their second NBA championship triumph overall were secured by the victory.
The Bucks team members who attended the ceremony, according to the White House, are: Giannis Antetokounmpo, player; Jrue Holiday, player; Brook Lopez, player; Marc Lasry, owner; Wes Edens, owner; Mike Fascitelli, owner; Alex Lasry, senior vice president; Mike Budenholzer, coach; Jon Horst, general manager; Giannis Antetokounmpo, player; and Donte DiVincenzo, player.
During the ceremony, a band sang the song “We are the Champions,” while the president and the team took group photos.
It was an absolutely amazing day for a lot of the team members.
Basketball star Pat Connaughton of the Bucks described his experience as “a kid from Arlington sitting at The White House steps.”
“What a fantastic experience! Amazing adventure,” Antetokounmpo tweeted.
