Kevin Garnett describes Anthony Edwards as an ‘Alpha,’ drawing comparisons between his confidence and that of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade

On The Stephen A. Smith Show, former Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett showered praise on the team’s emerging talent, Anthony Edwards. Garnett lauded Edwards’ self-assurance and his impressive performance during the playoffs.

“I believe he’s been the dominant force in every series he’s been a part of,” Garnett remarked at the 46:00 mark. “I’m not sure if Ant Man can surpass Luka [Dončić] and Kyrie [Irving] in dominance. However, he possesses the same level of energy. Let me tell you, I haven’t witnessed such unwavering confidence in a young player since LeBron [James], [Dwyane Wade], [Carmelo Anthony]. Edwards exudes an abundance of confidence.”

Despite being only 22 years old, Edwards has displayed a level of maturity akin to a seasoned veteran during the playoffs, propelling Minnesota to its first Western Conference finals appearance since 2004, when Garnett graced the roster.

Here's How LeBron James Became the NBA's First Billionaire

Throughout the postseason, Edwards has maintained impressive averages of 28.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. Notably, he has notched five games with 30 or more points, including three remarkable performances with 40 or more. As the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, Edwards has emerged as the shining star the Timberwolves have long sought, potentially guiding them to their inaugural Finals appearance in franchise history.

However, before reaching the Finals, Edwards and the Wolves must overcome the challenge posed by Luka Dončić and the Dallas Mavericks in the conference finals. Having defeated the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, the Mavs are now eyeing their first Finals appearance since 2011.

Should Edwards continue to assert himself as the dominant force, it will undoubtedly pose a formidable challenge for Dallas in the upcoming series.
