With the words “NBA Champs 2022!” engraved in the sand, Thompson posted an Instagram picture of himself from the beach with the message, “Everything is better in the Bahamas.”

Mychal Thompson, Thompson’s father, was born in Nassau. Mychal, who is currently 67 years old, was the first overall and foreign-born selection in the 1978 NBA Draft.

Following the Warriors’ victory against the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, Thompson, 32, remarked, “I know my family is in Nassau watching [the NBA Finals].”

He went added, “This summer, I can’t wait to celebrate with all of my family back home.”

In November 2020, Thompson had a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg, and he also suffered an ACL tear during the 2019 NBA Finals. Thompson has fought really hard to recover from both injuries.

This summer, Thompson not only won an NBA championship but also added additional medals to his collection after winning the Best Comeback Athlete prize at the 2022 ESPYs in July.
