Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Heartwarming Interview with Brother Kostas: Celebrating Panathinaikos’ EuroLeague Semifinal Triumph

It is obvious that Giannis Antetokounmpo would like to be competing in the NBA postseason and leading the Milwaukee Bucks to another title right now.

He finds that, despite his nervousness, watching his younger brother compete internationally on a large platform and pursuing his own title is a pretty good substitute.

After spending time with his fiancée, kids, and Brook Lopez at Walt Disney World, the two-time MVP of the Bucks traveled to Berlin, Germany on Friday to see the EuroLeague Final Four and support Kostas Antetokounmpo’s Greek side. Scottie Pippen, the six-time NBA champion, sat down next to him during the match. That’s a lot of star power all in one row!

Kostas, 26, is a player for the Greek Basket League and EuroLeague team Panathinaikos. Former Panathinaikos player Thanasis Antetokounmpo is the older brother and currently plays for the Bucks.

In his team’s 73-57 semifinal victory over Fenerbahçe Beko (Istanbul, Turkey), reserve player Kostas recorded two rebounds and a block in just seven minutes of play.

Giannis grabbed his phone after the game to record the energy inside Uber Arena before embracing Kostas on the floor.

Before the second semifinal match, Giannis returned to his seat and shared his thoughts about the incident.

Giannis stated, “I’m very happy that my brother is not only in the Final Four but that he attended the final game, you know.” “I hope all goes well for his team. This place has an amazing atmosphere. The fan base’s energy and the tournament’s overall organization are two things I believe the NBA should improve.”

After that, Giannis dressed like a reporter and spoke with Kostas outside of the court.

“I was anxious, I get anxious when I watch my brothers play,” Giannis remarked as he prepared to ask Kostas a question. “How did you feel before the game?”

Kostas remarked, “I was thrilled.” “I was a little anxious at first, but everything disappeared when the clock struck zero. I was fired up and eager to play and compete.”

Before signing with the Turkish Basketball Super League in 2022, Kostas played for a few years in the NBA. After joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and winning an NBA championship, Kostas became the first player of Greek descent to do so. The previous summer, he inked a two-year deal with Panathinaikos.

On Sunday, May 26, Kostas’ Panathinaikos club takes on Real Madrid in the EuroLeague championship game.

Kendrick Nunn and Jerian Grant, two former NBA players, join Kostas in Panathinaikos.

In Fenerbahçe Beko’s defeat to Panathinaikos, former Wisconsin Badgers great Nigel Hayes-Davis scored a team-high 14 points.
