News about the Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece are finishing up preparations for their journey to Paris later this month for the Olympics.
On the other hand, Giannis’s injury has forced the former NBA MVP to miss Tuesday’s tune-up game against Puerto Rico, which is unfortunate news for the national team.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is out of the Milwaukee Bucks’ game against Puerto Rico.
On Monday, SPORT24 reporter Harris Stavrou revealed that Antetokounmpo was unable to travel with the team for their next exhibition match:
“Due to an illness, Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play against Puerto Rico tomorrow. Stavrou posted on X, the defunct Twitter platform, that “The Greek Freak did not travel to Thessaloniki with the team.”
Although the illness’s nature was not made public, it doesn’t seem like a major problem. Currently, it doesn’t appear that Antetokounmpo’s availability for the Olympics will be affected by this setback.
Is Giannis vs. Nikola Jokic Coming Up?
According to the same report, Stavrou also mentioned that Greece is now working on one more pre-Olympic tune-up match.
According to Stavrou, “the Greek Federation is attempting to set up a final practice match against Nikola Jokic’s Serbia in Belgrade, before the 2024 Olympics.”
I’m hoping Antetokounmpo will be well enough to play against Nikola Jokic, the current NBA MVP. Whatever the situation, watching these two battle it out on the court is always entertaining.
Greece will play their first Olympic match against Canada on July 27. They are joined in their group by Australia and Spain.
