Giannis Antetokounmpo Gives Greece Basketball Team His New ‘Freak 6’ Shoes Before Paris Olympics

The Greek men’s basketball team will have an opportunity to win an Olympic gold medal, and two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is anticipated to be a key player in that effort. Giannis is trying his hardest to get his team motivated ahead of the Olympics in Paris.

The Greek teammates received sneakers from the Milwaukee Bucks superstar, who shared a video of the event on his X account.

Giannis Antetokounmpo distributed his unique pair of Nike sneakers. He specifically gifted a pair of the Nike Freak 6 in the Roses hue to every one of them.

Retail outlets have not yet carried the Freak 6. It will retail for $150 and be made available on August 16.

There will be two colorways available at first.

The words “I Am My Father’s Legacy” are stitched to the insole of the Roses edition, which has a pinkish coloring with embroidered roses. This is visible when Giannis hands out the sneakers at the end of the video.

The Naija is the name of the other colorway. This has the word “Freaky” printed on the bottom and is colored mostly in black and green. It seems that the term “Naija” pays homage to Giannis’s Nigerian heritage.

Even though Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Freak 6 currently only comes in two colorways, more designs should eventually become available, much to how the Freak 5 gradually added new colorways.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will represent Greece at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will have a significant Olympic experience in Paris in 2024. Not only is this his first Olympics, but he was chosen to carry his country’s flag.

Two more NBA players were chosen by their countries to be flag bearers, in addition to the Greek Freak. One is Dennis Schroder, the captain of the German basketball team and 2023 MVP of the FIBA World Cup. The third is none other than LeBron James, the four-time NBA MVP and champion who will represent Team USA.

Even though Giannis is participating in his first Olympics, he has participated in other international competitions before. In the FIBA World Cups of 2014 and 2019, he represented Greece. Due to injuries, he was unable to compete in the FIBA World Cup in 2023.

Giannis wrote a long X post expressing his disappointment at not being able to attend the event.

Giannis Antetokoumpo had to battle with a strained calf during the previous NBA playoffs. The Indiana Pacers eliminated the Bucks in the first round as a result of this and Damian Lillard’s injury.

Giannis has recovered from his injuries and is prepared to support the Greek team at the 2024 Olympics, unlike in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
